Kalpulli Ehecacoatl, nestled in the vibrant community of Santa Cruz County, particularly in Watsonville, extends its cultural embrace to neighboring areas like Pajaro. As stewards of Aztec heritage, we proudly offer immersive dance classes for all those seeking to delve into the rich tapestry of our tradition. Our rhythmic beats and colorful regalia enhance private gatherings and community celebrations, highlighting the enduring presence of our indigenous culture. We welcome you to be part of our mission to create a nurturing environment where learning flourishes and our ancestral legacy shines brightly.
Derived from Nahuatl concepts, our name combines "Kalpulli" — a learning community or a place of ceremonial gathering — with "Ehecacoatl," meaning serpent of the wind. "Ehecatl" (wind) represents our first breath at birth and symbolizes abundance, as the wind is the force that brings life-giving rain clouds. "Coatl" (serpent) represents movement, transformation, and knowledge.
We offer FREE classes Mondays and Thursdays. Learn more about joining our community.
